The heroes of StuDay
It’s your time to shine @StuDay! StuDay would not have been the same without our fantastic crew! What exactly did they do on StuDay? GATE15 visited these heroes and gave them a place under the spotlight!
Alexander
“Today I’m going to serve people at the bar on StuDay. It’s my first time as an employee at StuDay, but I already love it.
This job has many advantages: it’s fun to do, it pays well and the colleagues are super cool! Also, I will be able to party myself after my shift.
With the money I earn, I’m definitely going to buy a beer! *laughter*”
Yasmine
“On StuDay, I’ll be supervising a sports activity later: “Kan Jam”. I’m not sure what it is yet, but it has something to do with Frisbees. Exciting!
Last year I also worked at StuDay, but as a cashier. I liked that job, but sometimes it was a bit boring. I think my job today offers more variety, but I’ll find out later.
Soon I’d like to buy an apartment of my own, so the money I earn today can certainly contribute to this!”
Zara & Serge
“The job we’re going to do today is a very diverse job, with different tasks. We start at the entrance to hand out wrist straps to the students who enter the festival, after that we will guard the bicycle parking area. Later in the evening we will guard the emergency exit. I (Serge) also helped with the construction here a few days in advance. After the end of StuDay I help with the demolition, but today Zara and I will be working in different shifts.
This job is so much fun, because you meet a lot of students. The working atmosphere is also very pleasant. This makes it a great pleasure to work at StuDay.
Because we work together as a couple, it’s quite an experience. During busy periods it’s easier to work together, because we already know each other so well. So it’s certainly in our favor. While working, we also sometimes poke each other *laughter*, especially when it’s too busy to be able to talk to each other. Last year we also worked here together, but at the bar.
Because we are working at the entrance today, we sometimes see eye-catching figures entering StuDay. For example, we just saw a lot of boys in swimming shorts! The flags of student clubs also catch the eye.
With the money we earn, we can hopefully enjoy a weekend getaway. I (Serge) also want to pay back my trip to Norway with a part of it.

“I study Hair Care at the Koninklijk Lyceum Antwerpen. For this course we have to work with our class at different events, like today at StuDay! We style people’s hair and give them a completely new (festival) look.
I really enjoy doing this, because I can give people a nice haircut and put a smile on their faces. Also the social contact is definitely a plus.
Last year I worked here while i was in my sixth year. Now, while I’m in my seventh year, I’m working here again with my class and we’re allowed to coach the sixth year students.
Today I don’t earn any money, because I’m working here for my school. I don’t mind that at all, because I just love doing it!”
